As the Scottish Government unveils it's 4 phase approach to lifting lock-down restrictions, it looks like gyms and the leisure industry will be the hardest hit. Will we be allowed back into our beloved gyms before the end of the year? Last week I shared some updates on what the fitness industry may look like as the government lifts lockdown restrictions. At the moment, England are leading the way with timing and have allowed one to one training to resume in an outdoor setting. ⠀ ⠀ On Thursday last week, The Scottish Government revealed the 4-phase plan with industry and activity specific guidance for each phase. They noted that all going well, we’ll move into phase 1 from next Thursday.⠀ That pretty much will bring us up to speed to where England are now. Nothing much will have changed with respect to the fitness industry and although unclear at the moment, one to one outdoor PT sessions might be permitted.⠀ ⠀ Gyms re-opening won’t happen, even with distancing and other measures in place until phase 3. There is no specific time-scale that will dictate how quickly or slowly they progress through phases it will depend on the marked criteria like infection rate and ‘R’ value.⠀ At least this provides a little clarity and is a positive step to show that we are overcoming this together and moving forward. With this sort of general, population level advice it normally raises more questions regarding the specifics.⠀ Did You Know?I offer a range of services that can work around lock-down including online coaching and at home personal training?
